Evaluation Question seven
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at my preliminary task in comparison to my music magazine it is clear to see that I have progressed a lot. I was familiar with Photoshop at the start of the preliminary task although I did not know how to use it to my full potential. Then as I got to my main task you can clearly see that I have used Photoshop and InDesign to my full potential to make my magazine look like a realistic media product.
I also learned to use other new technologies which I had never heard of before such as Padlet, Slideshare and Prezi to present my work. In my preliminary task I did not really use any other technologies except for Microsoft work, Google slides and Photoshop. In my preliminary task I did not plan out my magazine as well as I should have although in my main task I completed a lot of planning which allowed me to see what I wanted my magazine to look like. In my main task I got a lot of target audience feedback because I had many different drafts of my products whereas in the preliminary task I only had my final drafts meaning that I could not make any changes as I did not have the feedback that I needed.
Overall I feel that My skills and use of technologies have progressed over both tasks which has lead to my main task being more professional looking that my preliminary task.

final construction of double page spread
I have added in my masthead of my article. I put it at the top as it follows the codes and conventions of other magazines.
Next I have added in a caption that will go underneath the main image of the article. I added it as it explains a little about the artist and it also gets the reader excited to read on and find out more.
I added in my first colum of writing and i then added in a drop cap on the very first letter of the article as it is professional and follows the codes and conventions of other magazines.
I then added in a photo to my article as i thought that if it was just the article it would look plain and boring.
I added in another photo as I often see it in other magazines to I wanted to copy them to make my own magazine look more professional. I also added in my name at the bottom of ther article as it follow the codes and conventions of other magazines.

Motion picture of the creation of my magazine front cover
Firstly I have added in a gradient background to my magazine as I did not want it to be plain white as I thought it did not look as professional. I then added in my masthead which is pop culture. I made the font on the internet as I thought it gives the magazine a pop feel.lastly I added in my main image, I will make sure that the rest of my headlines are put around the photo,
Next I have added in my skyline, slogan and first headline to make the magazine jump out at people. I have made my main headline big as I want people to notice it
Next following the codes and conventions of other magazines I have added in the + symbol to make people interested in the next headline and to entice them into buying the magazine.
Below my two main headlines i have added in my barcode, issue number, date and price as it looks professional and all other magazines use this convention.
On the middle of my front cover I have added in a pull quote on top of the feature artist to let people know that it is going to be an itnerview. The pull quote is interesting as my target audience will want to know what is a dream come true
Lastly I have added in more coverlines to fill up my contents page as I did not want it to look blank. Friday, 27 February 2015
construction of Double page spread
Firstly I have added in my mast head and the image that I am going to use for my double page spread. I out my masthead at the top so that it would be easy to see. Using the type tool I placed a pull quote from my article to entice readers to read on to the next page.
Next I had added in my next heading which just introduces Kelly. I did not want to put it on the first page as I thought that it would ruin the photo.
Next using the type tool again I created a text box in the form of a column and to help me do this I used the columns that were already in place just to help me structure my magazine.
Lastly a I added in the rest of my columns in pot my double page spread using the same step as before. I used three columns as it looks more professional and also it does not look messy as everything is in line.

Contents page construction
Firstly I opened In-design and started with a blank page. I used columns to help me structure my contents page to make it look professional.
I then added in my masthead which is"CONTENTS" I made sure that it was big and noticeable so that people would recognise it.
I did not like how the photos where situated so I moved them around as it created more room to start writing my contents.
Next I added in a light blue half tone back ground to give the contents page a bit of color and I also added this background onto my front cover so I wanted to go onto my contents page with the same style.
I then added in my masthead which is"CONTENTS" I made sure that it was big and noticeable so that people would recognise it.
After I added in my pictures and a magazine sticker for one article to just make it pop out of the page.
I did not like how the photos where situated so I moved them around as it created more room to start writing my contents.

Magazine Front Cover
This is my second draft of my music magazine. I had to change the colours to make it a lot more colourful and to make it stand more. I also had to change the the masthead to make sure that it was not pixelated as that does not look professional. Lastly I had to add in a quote from the artist as I said I was doing an interview the quote from the interview could entice people to buy my magazine.
Magazine Feedback
Front cover construction
firstly I added in my background for my magazine. I used a light blue half tone background. At first I had no background but then in my feedback I was told as it was a pop magazine it needed more colour so that is why I added in the background.
I then added in my masthead which was POP CULTURE. I put it in capital letters so that it would stand out from the page and also people would notice it more.
thridly I added in my main photograph which is of the main feature artist. I done this to entice people to buy the magazine. By adding in my photo I was then able to start to structure the headlines around it.
In this image i have added in my first two feature headlines. One of them is about the feature artist and the other is about a competition which will entice people to buy the magazine. I also added in a + to make the headline about the competition stand out.
As my main headline says that there is an exclusive interview i decided to put in a pull quote on my front cover which makes it more professional looking and lets the target audience see what will be inside.
Lastly I have added in my third cover line on the other side of the magazine to make sure that it looks professional.
