contents page analysis two
This is the contents page for the ‘Prep School’ magazine. Most
magazines include contents pages so it is easier for the reader to navigate
through the magazine and also find the pages and article that they would like
to read. Also if this was not included I think that people would not buy this
magazine because there are too many articles and the readers would not know
what articles to read. You can also buy this magazine online and pay a
subscription to receive magazines every month and you can download the magazine
onto your laptop for free instead of waiting for it to come in the post.
On the contents page there are four images going down the
right hand side which illustrates some of the articles as there are pages
numbers at the bottom of the images. The images are of children who look happy
and they are placed in a school or outdoor environment. when I see these
pictures down the side they make me think that they are to do with the main
articles as there are only four pictures and the take up at least a quarter of
the page. The four main pictures go in order down the page and this would also
make the reader want to read on as it is not all over the place.
The layout of this contents page is very formal as
everything is in order and the vocabulary and punctuation is all correct. The page
has numbers beside all of the articles which is good as it entices the reader
to read the article that they want to as it is easy to find.
The title of this page is in bold, big writing which is
bigger than the rest of the page. when the reader looks at this page the first
thing that will grab their attention is the Word ‘contents’ this will also make
the reader want to look down the rest of the page to see what types of articles
this magazine offers.
In all of the images the children look happy. In the first
image the children look to be in a forest and there is also an image of a
teacher speaking to two students and in the last picture there are two girls
doing some kind of science project and this is also good for the parents of the
pupils as they are able to see most of the events and work that their children
take part in.
Lastly I have seen that the three main colours are white, black
and red. These colours represent elegance, peace and love which means that the
prep school hold think that there school is a great school and you can also see
that the school take care of the students and hold them in high regard.
